If a person wishes to make property available to his/her presumed heirs or other persons whilst he/she is still alive, he/she can do so by making donations.
It is also possible to proceed with a living succession, which is a contract based on one or more donations between living persons, with or without reserving a usufruct, of all or part of the possessions of the donor, for the benefit of one, some or all of his/her presumed legal heirs. This is achieved with the consent of the other heirs, i.e. the donees pay or agree to pay the non-donees their proportion of the unit value of the assets received.
